    Winter 2012 Class Descriptions
    Classes run from January 3rd-March 25th
    We offer Pilates, Barre, Yoga and other various classes.

    A Cup of Joe - A classical Pilates mat class
    Start your week off right with a morning wake-up class. Named after Pilates founder Joseph Pilates this classical mat class uses the authentic sequence yet offers modifications to accommodate various levels. Bring your favorite mug and get a complimentary cup of fresh brewed coffee or an herbal tea at the end of class to further jump start your morning. 

    Mat Pilates w/ Props
    Mat Pilates is a mind/body system that integrates your core muscles with specific breathing to facilitate movement. Engaging in a consistent Pilates program will help you obtain greater ranges of motion while you develop tight, toned muscles of the abs, hips, thighs, and glutes. Using props like the Pilates circle, a small ball and light dumbbells will create a challenge to the body while allowing it to do deeper levels of work from within.

    Barre Basics
    The barre technique is unique in that it combines the principles of Pilates, yoga, and ballet with the use of a ballet barre to tone the entire body, increase flexibility, and improve range of motion. Each barre class is a 55 minute total body workout set to upbeat music in an energetic group setting. The use of proper breathing with movement, exceptional instructor cueing, and modifications are given to promote an effective and safe exercise. The concentration of each exercise is on controlled, isometric movements that sculpt the thighs, tone and firm the buttocks, flatten the abdominals, and define the arms. muscle lengthening stretching is incorporated after each intense working section to compliment a total body workout.
     
    Beyond the Basics Barre
    Go beyond the basics. This class goes beyond the basic level with higher repetitions and deeper range of motion. This class will raise your heart rate for cardio-conditioning. The barre technique is unique in that it combines the principles of Pilates, yoga, and ballet with the use of a ballet barre to tone the entire body, increase flexibility, and improve range of motion. Each barre class is a 55 minute total body workout set to upbeat music in an energetic group setting. The use of proper breathing with movement, exceptional instructor cueing, and modifications are given to promote an effective and safe exercise. The concentration of each exercise is on controlled, isometric movements that sculpt the thighs, tone and firm the buttocks, flatten the abdominals, and define the arms. Muscle lengthening/stretching is incorporated after each intense working section to compliment a total body workout.

    Lyposculpt Barre
    There is no need for expensive and unnecessary fat sucking cosmetic surgery. Utilize this cardio base fat burning class! Lyposculpt Barre will melt fat while, tightening all regions of the lower body, arms and core. This concentrated 55-minute toning class focuses on the abs, glutes, legs and lower back using light weights, a ball and the barre. Beginners are welcomed.
     
    Piloxing
    Piloxing is a sleek, sexy and powerful workout. It combines standing Pilates based work, dance movements and boxing. The workout is fun and it burns major calories. It also allows you to tone and strengthen while lengthening! 1/2 lb gloves are worn on each hand to expedite results! Toe sox or socks with bottom grips are required for this class. Gloves are recommended but not required. Both socks and gloves can be purchased in advance online. Guys….this class can be for you too! 

    Power Yoga Flow
    This class combines classic Ashtanga postures with a creative Vinyasa flow between poses, emphasizing strength and flexibility. After an awakening Ujaii breath, the class progresses with a series of Sun Salutations (Suryanamaskar As and Bs), moving through Plank, Upward and Downward Dogs in order to build heat in the body. After 45 min of standing poses, the class would begin to cool down with a series of classic Ashtanga seated poses emphasizing core strength, and then a series of spinal twists and backbends, increasing core flexibility. Finally this dynamic class will end in a well-deserved Savasana (resting pose)!

    *Specialty and Donation Classes We sometimes offer specialty priced classes. These classes typically do not include the use of class cards, discounts or online promotions. Donation classes are payable by cash only directly to the instructor.

    Small Group Pilates Springboard Training
    (3-5 people)
    Springboard Pilates Beginner’s Series-
    Curious to learn about working out on Pilates equipment? The Beginner Equipment 4-week series is a great way to be introduced to Pilates fundamentals, mat work, and the Pilates equipment.
    This series is geared toward beginning students and anyone looking for a refresher. You will learn the vocabulary and movements that are unique to the Pilates Method. Each week you will learn new movements which lead to greater awareness of your posture both during and after class. This beginner series is designed to prepare the student to join the very popular, ongoing equipment classes. The knowledge you gain in the beginner series will also be valuable in mat classes. This class is sold in a consecutive 4 weeks at one class a week. Refunds or credits are not given for missed classes in this series. This class series begins every four weeks.     Springboard Pilates - all levels
    The Pilates Springboard is a piece of Pilates equipment that provides an invigorating full-body workout. You will challenge your core muscles like never before while having fun with springs and other various things! Due to the tempo of this class it is not suitable for brand new beginners of Pilates or new to working out. Save $3.00 per class when you buy a pack of 4 for $60.00!

    Springboard Pilates -Intermediate/Advance
    This is an advanced group class that incorporates the Springboard wall unit and mat work. Instructor approval required before joining this class.

    T.G.I.F Springboard -all levels
    The Pilates Springboard is a piece of Pilates equipment that provides an invigorating full-body workout. You will challenge your core muscles like never before while having fun with springs and other various things! Due to the tempo of this class it is not suitable for brand new beginners of Pilates or new to working out.

    Real Men Do Pilates!
    Ladies tell your guy friends…this title says it all. This class is designed to help men strengthen their core while still focusing on their favorite muscle groups. This class is for 3 to 5 men only using a small ball, the Pilates springboard & mat. After all, Joseph Pilates invented the work and he was a man!
    Not scheduled for Winter!

    Barre, Ball, and Board Bootcamp
    Experience the best of three workouts. This 75 minute small group class is tailored for those that are looking for a little more. It starts at the Springboard with a heat building Pilates based workout. We next use various balls to target tone the abs, and glutes. We finally take it to the barre for a target toning session and deep stretch to complete this well rounded routine. Only for 5 participants...perfect for bridal boot camps, and private small group sessions. This small group training is run every other Sunday by request only with at least 3 participants at 11:30am. This class is specially priced at $25.00 per person. Please note: This class is not included in any promotional or membership offer.

    The Well Loft Studio Etiquette
    at The Well Loft we encourage everyone to take responsibility for their own practice.

    • Socks are a must and necessary to practice at the studio as bare feet are not allowed.
    • Try to arrive 5 minutes before your class. Coming early can help you settle in and prepare yourself to be present for your practice.
    • We are pleased to offer yoga mats and props to participants free of charge on a first come first served basis.
    • Do not eat for at least an hour before class. Yoga Pilates and Indoor Cycling should not be practiced on a full stomach.
    • Wear fitted leggings, yoga pants, a sleeved top and a tank for body temperature changes. These clothing items will also allow the teacher to see how you are aligned. All clothing should be comfortable and allow the body to breathe.
    • Please inform us if you have an injury or any issue that would affect your practice. Please share this with your teacher before class begins.
    • Remember to drink plenty of water before, during and after each class. 
    • If you are new to the studio please fill out this intake form before coming in.
